Identity Theft and Fraud have traditionally been "retail" crimes, one
credit card stolen, one identity defrauded. One driver's
license sold out the back door, one identity created.
Electronic commerce and government have opened up a wholesale market
for identity theft and fraud. This work group will help define
the issues surrounding identity theft and fraud and focus on
technologies and techniques for preventing identity theft and fraud
where they start by better protection of and practices for, handling
the data, information, documents, and transmissions of personal
information.
