R&D Workgroup, XML Technologies and Workflow Management project

The value of standardizing XML schemas and using an e-government online data exchange. Project participants assess the state-level impact of a data exchange that encompasses a compliance workflow shared by industry filers and environmental enforcement agencies.
The report may include:
- XML schemas proposed for common subsets of environmental compliance data
- How participants arrived at a proposed XML schema
(i.e., steps taken, accelerating consensus, lessons learned)
- Flow diagrams comparing existing paper-based processes and online data exchange processes
- Anticipated impact on states that adopt these technologies
(i.e., measurable ROI, results for constituents)
- Ideas for related e-government functions "sharable" with a central exchange
(i.e., security, authentication, regulatory rules)
===>> Offer a presentation by state participants that includes. . .
- Highlighted results of the project (as reported above)
- A vivid demo of a workflow management tool for the exchange of compliance data
