This unique conference is designed by the National Electronic Commerce Coordinating Council, an alliance of three sponsoring associations, to provide a forum for government officials and private-sector participants to define electronic commerce and to describe the extent of its current use by state government; to present ongoing developments in electronic commerce in the private sector; to examine various federal initiatives related to electronic commerce and the role of the federal government in the area; to explore the potential business applications of electronic commerce for state government; and to identify the main policy issues related to the further development of electronic commerce in the states.

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION A. Objectives: To define electronic commerce and to describe the extent of its current use by state government; to present ongoing developments in electronic commerce in the private sector; to examine various federal initiatives related to electronic commerce and the role of the federal government in the area; to explore the potential business applications of electronic commerce for state government; and to identify the main policy issues related to the further development of electronic commerce in the states. B. Level of knowledge: overview. C. Education or experience requirement: general understanding of the potential business applications of electronic commerce and the technological and policy issues which must be addressed to further its development. D. CPE: Eleven (11) hours of continuing professional education have been recommended. Registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses.
