Calls for Cybersecurity Agency
July 2002 -
An interstate public-sector IT security and analysis center,
at least partially federally funded, should be established,
and states should establish enterprise-wide security
architectures, according to a new report from NASCIO, the
state CIOs' association. In all, the report, written by former
Kansas CIO Don Heiman and funded by the PricewaterhouseCoopers
Endowment for the Business of Government, contains 10
recommendations for improving public-sector IT security.

Jersey Completes Aerial Photography For GIS Network
June
5, 2002 - Judith
Teller, Chief Information Officer for the state of New Jersey,
announced the completion of the aerial photography for the New
Jersey Orthophoto Mapping Program 2002-2003.
This is the first step in an ambitious undertaking that
will significantly improve the way New Jersey’s Geographic
Information Systems (GIS) community does business in the
future.

Online licensing
makes gains in Montana and New Hampshire
State officials in Montana yesterday
unveiled an online service at www.discoveringmontana.com
that lets users check the status of licensed
professionals, including accountants, physicians and plumbers.
The state contracted with Montana Interactive Inc., a
subsidiary of National Information Consortium Inc. of Overland
Park, Kan., to build the site, which is funded by user fees.
