David Moon is a member of Governor Leavitt’s Senior Staff, serving as the state’s Chief Information Officer. He is responsible for spearheading the governor’s technology initiatives and coordinating the use of information technology across state agencies. His duties include oversight and strategic planning for information technology and telecommunications in state government.

 Prior to his appointment as CIO, Mr. Moon served as Sr. Vice President of Development for Novell, Inc. where he managed the Shared Services Division of the Novell Applications Group. He also served as Chief Technology Officer and Sr. Vice President of Development at WordPerfect Corporation prior to its merger with Novell. During his tenure with Novell and the WordPerfect Corporation, Dave was responsible for coordination and development of technology plans and product development strategies, senior management duties, media representation and initiated the creation and management of several new product efforts at WordPerfect.

 Mr. Moon completed his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer Science at Brigham Young University in 1983.

 Dave’s personal interests include reading, computers, snow and water skiing, horseback riding and racquetball. He and the former Kathryn Thomas are the parents of seven children.
