Electronic Commerce Transactions & Online Government Services Work Group

Chair: Dan Greenwood, Massachussetts
Board Liaison: Dave Moon, Utah
Communications Committee Liaison: Steve Fricker, AMS

The Electronic Commerce Transactions & Online Government Services Work Group will develop work products that support states’ efforts to allow government services to be transacted over the Internet using electronic commerce technologies. These work products will include the following:

  1. A session at the NECCC Annual Conference that will highlight current efforts by states to allow government services to be transacted electronically using electronic commerce technologies. The initial plan for the session is to have a panel of presenters from states who have leading edge applications in the area of online government services.
  2. Documentation, either in the form of a database or info sheets, that gives specific information on at least 15-20 state electronic commerce projects that are either currently implemented or in pilot phase and that allow government services to be transacted over the Internet using electronic commerce technologies. Preference will be given to projects that are using some form of electronic authentication for the transactions. The information will include:
  1. An online catalog or database of completed, under development, and planned electronic commerce projects in states which allow government services to be transacted over the Internet using electronic commerce technologies. This would include at a minimum project descriptions, summary information, and contact information, and would allow states to more easily make contact with individuals in other states who are involved in similar e-commerce projects. Our hope is that some cost/benefit information about these projects can also be captured.

This Work Group will not address electronic commerce projects within the states that have to do with procurement and purchasing systems.
